How We Build Custom Wheels Around a Single Car

When you go to the K7 Forged website and place an order for custom wheels, we start with your specific car model and end with the best four wheels for it. We make every wheel set in Dubai using high-quality 6061-T6 aluminium, in diameters ranging from 17 to 26 inches. The whole manufacturing process begins only after you approve the CAD drawing of the wheel you like, which means you can make as many changes as you like.

Key Highlights

•   Every K7 order starts with your car’s bolt pattern, brake size, tyre size and axle load.

•   Two wheels with matching size and offset can still differ by 8mm at the caliper.

•   Forging presses push between 4,000 and 10,000 tons into an aluminium billet.

•   T6 heat treatment brings 6061 aluminium to about 310 MPa tensile strength.

•   One US maker quotes 6 to 8 weeks for custom wheels, while we quote about 3 weeks for online orders.

The first drawing is based squarely on your car’s intricate measurements

Motometal, from the US, makes custom wheels and rims, and they ask for the year, make, model, trim, front and rear sizes, offset and any brake kit part numbers. We ask our Dubai customers for this already long list, and adds tyre size, finish and the axle weight rating from the door sticker. We can measure these for you.

The wheel also needs a centre bore sized to your hub and the right lug seat, because a ball-seat bolt on a European car and a conical bolt on a Japanese car do not swap. Half the heavier axle rating gives the minimum load rating per wheel, as our 4×4 spec matching guide shows. Our checklists on questions for your wheel manufacturer and buying wheels in 2026 cover the rest.

•   Photograph the door-jamb sticker before you contact us.

Brake clearance shapes the spokes

Matching size and offset does not guarantee caliper clearance. Performance Plus Tire compared two 19×9.5 ET35 wheels, and the flat-faced one hit the caliper by 8mm while the concave one cleared it. Brembo specifies at least 3mm of clearance, and EBC asks for 5mm. One RAV4 owner on the Toyota Owners Club fitted ET40 rims to a car registered for ET35, and the fronts struck the calipers. Our CAD preview places your caliper inside the wheel before we cut any metal, which also protects brake airflow. We set the offset in the forging, so you avoid risky spacers and still get flush fitment.

•   Send brake kit part numbers if you upgraded the calipers.

A forging press turns a billet into a wheel blank

German maker Otto Fuchs preforms each blank at 4,000 tons and presses the design at 7,000 tons. Apex Wheels uses 10,000 tons on a billet of about 120 lb, and says the pressure removes porosity. Hagerty reports a similar 10,000-ton press behind the Rays TE37. Our VLC Series comes in one, two or three-piece configurations, while TEC and CLR wheels stay monoblock. Our guides on monoblock vs two-piece, modular wheels and forged vs cast explain the trade-offs.

Heat treatment gives 6061 aluminium its T6 strength

Aluminum Association data, published by Aerospace Metals, lists a solution treatment at 529°C and aging at 177°C for 8 hours for 6061 forgings. The result is about 310 MPa tensile strength, 276 MPa yield strength and 12 to 17 per cent elongation. The stretch lets a forged rim bend before it cracks, a point our alloy wheel damage guide covers. Our expensive vs cheap forged wheels breakdown shows where low-cost makers cut corners.

CNC machining carves the design out of the blank

Apex removes roughly 40 to 50 per cent of the blank on the lathe, then spends 6 hours or more per wheel on face machining, depending on the design. A busy mesh face like our VLC-511 needs more machine time than the split spokes of a TEC-315. The VLC-506 adds a polished outer lip, and our EV wheel guide pairs it with the Taycan. Then, Apex laser-engraves the size and specs on the inner barrel. Read our 10 manufacturing principles and the full manufacturing process for more on this stage.

Finishing and inspection happen before shipping

Apex checks runout, balance and dimensions, then runs X-ray and pressure tests. There’s also Japan’s JWL radial test which spins a wheel 500,000 times at 2.25 times its rated load. Our finish range covers gloss, satin and textured colours, plus brushed transparent shades such as Gloss Brushed Gold. See rare wheel finishes and ceramic coating before you pick one.

Lead time and price follow the build

Most wheel manufacturers mention an average of 6 to 8 weeks, which might be a long time for many. Some others wait from 4 weeks to more than 12, with multi-piece and custom backspace wheels taking longest. We quote about 3 weeks for online orders, and our TER off-road wheels start at 2,125 AED each. Our wheels come with lifetime structural warranty, which you can register within 3 days of the invoice. You’ll get long-term savings because of the durability factor, and that is more than enough reason to invest in custom wheels.

Where can I get custom rims made in Dubai?

K7 Forged designs, forges and finishes custom wheels and rims in Dubai for car enthusiasts in the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Send your car details through our enquiry page, approve the CAD drawing, and we start forging. See our customers reviews, and you’ll understand why K7 is the market leader for forged wheels market in Dubai and it’s not just Dubai, because we give the same standards for custom forged wheel buyers in Kuwait.

FAQ

Do custom wheels affect my car’s warranty?

Unfortunately, a some dealers can refuse warranty claims as our custom wheel warranty guide explains.

Are replica wheels cheaper than custom rims?

Replicas copy a design in cast metal, and our guides on replica rims and fake performance wheels show the risks.

Can K7 Forged build custom rims for a classic or JDM car?

Yes, our state-of-the-art CLR Series covers classic and JDM fitments, including the CLR-114.

Do you make custom wheels for off-road 4x4s?

Yes, our TER Series includes beadlock models such as the TER-619, and our off-road wheel guide explains them.

Will custom wheels change my fuel economy?

Lighter forged wheels can help while larger diameters usually hurt, as our mileage guide shows.
